Best Amazon Prime Day Shopping Strategies

If you’re looking to save big on Amazon Prime Day, you’re in the right place.

As Amazon Prime day gets closer (June 21-22), it’s time to start finalizing your strategies to make the most of the deep discounts and stretch your budget as far as possible. Keep reading to learn the best Amazon Prime Day shopping strategies.

#1. Join Amazon Prime

First and foremost, to take advantage of the savings, deals, and discounts offered on Amazon Prime Day, you have to be an Amazon Prime subscriber. Monthly, Amazon Prime costs $13 — well worth it for the Prime Day discounts and year-round free shipping.

#2. Download the Appe

The Amazon app is a helpful tool that streamlines the mobile shopping experience — no matter the day of the year. But, it comes especially handy for Prime Day. That’s because before Prime Day is live, the “Deals” section of the app will show you all upcoming deals. You can even take it a step further and click “Watch this Deal” for deals you are particularly interested in and want to take advantage of. Then, if notifications are activated, your phone will send you alerts when the deal is live so you can take advantage of it before it expires or runs out.

Take Advantage of Bonus Credits

We’re expecting to see something similar to last year when Amazon created several avenues for shoppers to earn credits to use during Prime Day a few days beforehand. Amazon offered the following last year, which we expect to see again — or at least similar deals, this year:

  • Spend $10 at physical stores, get $10 to spend on Amazon— People who spent at least $10 at Whole Foods Market (in-store, delivery, and pickup), received a $10 credit to use during the two-day Prime Day event. This offer extended to Prime members who frequent Amazon’s physical stores like Amazon Go, Amazon Go Grocery, and Amazon Fresh, and more. If you were able to shop at each location last year, Amazon rewarded you with $50 for Prime Day.
  • Get a $5 credit with Amazon Cash — The service allows you to shop Amazon without debit or credit cards by adding cash at participating locations. Last year, first-time Amazon Cash customers received a $5 Amazon credit when they added $30 to their Amazon Cash bank.
  • Apply for an amazon.com store card — People who applied and were approved for an Amazon store card got $60 gift cards last year. What’s more,  Amazon Prime Store Cardholders can earn 5% back on Amazon.com purchases and up to 25% back on Prime Day purchases.

Go in With a Plan and Narrow Down Your List

If you go into Prime Days with no list, you will likely spend way more money than you intended to because you will want to take advantage of every deal you come across. Stretch your budget and plan ahead what the best deals are and what you are specifically looking for.
